Tax calculation in EV OS ensures compliance with local tax regulations by calculating indirect taxes, such as excise and sales tax, based on the jurisdiction of your charging site.
How Taxes Are Calculated:
Taxes are calculated based on the session subtotal: the connection fee, charging fee, and occupancy fee, minus any applied discounts. Our system then generates a detailed session report that breaks down the tax amount to be paid, the relevant jurisdictions, and other key details for each session.
Regardless of the payment solution used—whether through our app or mobile web app with payment gateways like Stripe, or via kiosks and credit card readers using gateways such as Heartland, Payter, or Apriva—we can calculate the tax.
- We do not remit taxes to authorities on your behalf.
- You are responsible for filing and remitting taxes to the appropriate tax authorities, such as state, municipal, and county agencies.
Configuring Tax Calculation Settings
Clients can choose to enable or disable indirect tax calculation. By default, indirect taxes (e.g., excise and sales tax) are calculated and charged to the driver based on the session subtotal. These taxes are determined according to the jurisdiction of the charging site.
Note: Tax rates are provided by Avalara, a third-party service provider, and are based on your site location. If you notice any discrepancies in the tax rates, please reach out to us for assistance.
Permission
Only users with Site Management - Admin permissions can edit and manage indirect tax calculation settings.
