Connect-to-Charge is a free charging method that allows drivers to plug in and start charging immediately, without additional procedures.
Unlike Plug-n-Charge, which requires linking the vehicle and the charging station, Connect-to-Charge bypasses hardware compatibility requirements and communicates directly with the stations to provide access.
Who is This Feature For?
Connect-to-Charge is designed for site owners who want to offer an intuitive and user-friendly Plug-n-Charge experience but lack the hardware to support it. It is ideal for situations like workplace parking or hospitality industries where free charging is provided.
What are the limitations?
- This feature is only available on stations that offer free charging.
- The station must be network-connected.
- Since Connect-to-Charge skips the typical start charging procedure (scan to initiate), the only way to stop charging is by unplugging the connector or waiting until the battery is fully charged.
- Drivers' would not be able to track the charging progress with Connect-to-Charge.
Note: Most DC stations lock the connector once a session begins, so unplugging them is not an option.
How to Enable Connect-to-Charge?
- From the side menu, navigate to Site Directory and select a site to configure.
- Go to the Pricing tab and select the station to enable Connect-to-Charge.
- From the Pricing Model menu, select Free Charging.
- Toggle on the Connect-to-Charge option, then click Save.
