How to Set Up a Weekly Automatic Load Management Schedule in EV OS

Noodoe EV OS provides two Load Management strategies for managing the power available to EV charging stations:

  • Group-based: Organizes charging stations according to the site’s electrical infrastructure, such as power panels and circuit breakers, and distributes the available power within each load group. This strategy is generally suitable for AC charging environments.
  • Weekly Automatic: Applies a site-wide power limit based on a recurring weekly schedule. It is especially useful for sites with DC chargers or a combination of AC and DC chargers, as well as sites where the available power changes throughout the week.

This article explains how to configure a Weekly Automatic Load Management schedule in EV OS.

How Weekly Automatic Load Management Controls Site Power

Weekly Automatic Load Management lets you create recurring time slots and assign a maximum power limit to each one. During a configured time slot, EV OS manages the active charging sessions so that the site’s total charging output stays within the specified Max Power.

For example, a site can set:

  • A higher power limit during weekdays and a lower limit during weekends.
  • Different power limits for peak and off-peak hours.
  • Custom power limits based on the site’s operating schedule.

When a new EV connects, charging can begin immediately. EV OS then rebalances the power distributed across the active charging sessions according to the applicable site limit.

 

Note: The site’s total output may briefly exceed the configured power limit while EV OS detects the new charging session and rebalances the available power.

 

Before You Set Up a Weekly Load Management Schedule

Before configuring Weekly Automatic Load Management:

  • Confirm the maximum power available for EV charging at the site.
  • Plan the days, times, and maximum power limit for each time slot.
  • Check the Time Zone displayed on the Load Management page. The weekly schedule follows the site’s time zone.
  • Make sure you have permission to manage the selected site in EV OS.

  • If the site requires continuous Load Management, plan schedules that cover the entire week.

     

How to Configure a Weekly Automatic Schedule

  1. Sign in to EV OS.

  2. From the left navigation menu, expand Energy Management, and then select Load Management.

  3. Find and select the site you want to configure.

  4. Select Weekly Automatic.

  5. Select Click to create the first Load Management Schedule.

  6. Configure the first time slot:

    • Start Week Day: Select the day the time slot begins.
    • Start Time: Select the time the time slot begins.
    • End Week Day: Select the day the time slot ends.
    • End Time: Select the time the time slot ends.
    • Max Power (kW): Enter the maximum total charging output allowed for the site during the time slot.

  7. To create another time slot, select Add Another Schedule.
  8. Configure the days, times, and maximum power for the additional time slot.

  9. Repeat these steps until all required time slots have been configured.

    Important: Weekly Automatic Load Management applies only during the configured time slots. During any period not covered by a schedule, Weekly Automatic does not limit the site’s charging output.

     

  10. Select Save.

    Important: Your changes will not be saved until you select Save.

  11. When the Update success message appears, the Weekly Automatic schedule has been saved successfully.

How to Add, Edit, or Delete a Load Management Schedule

To add another time slot:

  1. Select Add Another Schedule.
  2. Configure the applicable days, times, and Max Power.
  3. Select Save.

To edit an existing time slot:

  1. Update the applicable days, times, or Max Power.
  2. Select Save.

To delete a time slot:

  1. Select the trash icon next to the time slot.
  2. Select Save.

 

How to Disable Load Management

To disable Load Management for the site:

  1. Open the site from the Load Management page.
  2. Select None.

  3. Select Save.

When None is selected, EV OS does not use Load Management to limit the site’s charging output.

Important: Before disabling Load Management, confirm that the site’s electrical infrastructure can support the potential charging demand.

 

Weekly Schedule and Power Limit Notes

  • Weekly Automatic schedules repeat every week according to the site’s configured time zone.
  • Max Power applies to the total charging output of the site during the specified time slot, not to each individual charging station.
  • Load Management is applied only during the configured time slots. During any period not covered by a schedule, Weekly Automatic does not limit the site’s charging output.
  • If the site requires continuous Load Management, make sure the configured schedules cover the entire week.
  • Schedule time slots cannot overlap. If two or more time slots overlap, EV OS displays an error and the schedule cannot be saved. Adjust the start or end time before saving again.
  • If Demand Response and Weekly Automatic Load Management are active at the same time, EV OS applies the lower power limit.

  • Review the schedule whenever the site’s operating hours, charging demand, or available electrical capacity changes.
